I just got a couple of 600 EX-RT's for use with my 5D III. Full-support of the 600 EX-RT with the 5D Mark III does in fact mean you get full control of the flash using the LCD, including all of the wireless options. I'm assuming the older bodies just don't have the firmware to do this (maybe there is some hardware required as well). Unfortunately, the Canon 5D Mark III does not have Wifi. In 2016, Eye-Fi announced it will no longer technical support for its line of its x2 Wi-Fi SD cards. It works via USB and WiFi, but I don't have a WiFi-enabled camera to test that with. USB has given me no issue what-so-ever, though. and no, Eye-Fi cards won't enable WiFi compatibility for the app. you don't need a wifi enabled cam, there's a workaround if your're interested.
